Therapy should be a safe, sacred, and supportive environment — a haven from the pressures of society. Depending on our upbringing and current circumstances, our day-to-day lives may not grant us many opportunities to be ourselves, especially if doing so could result in harm.
LGBTQQIP2SA teens are 120 times more likely to experience homelessness than those who do not identify as LGBTIQIA+, and four times more likely to attempt suicide than their non-LGBTQIA+ peers. LGBTQIA+ youth are also at heightened risk of bullying and sexual violence. While these statistics are alarming, they highlight just how important it is for LGBTQIA+ individuals to receive proper support and care.
Regardless of age, those who identify as LGBTQIA+ may not feel comfortable expressing their true selves at home, school, work, or elsewhere. On the other hand, therapy should serve as a space where the masks can fall away and individuals can be themselves. Road to Growth Counseling honors and celebrates all gender and sexual identities, and we aim to create a safe and supportive atmosphere to explore all parts of your story.
Whether you identify as LGBTQIA+ or you are exploring your identity, we hope that our practice can serve as a refuge where you can freely express yourself.
